Story

"Puff the Magic Pattern" capsule is a collection of wearable pieces, building on the "realio, trulio" sadness, bravery, and acceptance that comes with growing up, which is explored by Peter Yarrow in his popular poem "Puff, the Magic Dragon", itself a work of inspiration based on Ogden Nash's "The Tale of Custard the Dragon". 

The capsule carries an underlying 90s theme, with longer inseams and wider body and leg widths that offer more draping while wearing the garments, as well as raw or distressed edges throughout several pieces. Even the main fabric colors are mellowed out, synonymous with what we saw historically with the neon colors of the 80s giving way to laidback patterns like plaids. 

A new, refreshed logo in scribbled cursive makes its debut, along with a new crop top, also nostalgically 90s, where there was a plethora of small tops paired with wide leg bottoms. 

The brand's first sports jersey, a modern interpretation of the American football jersey, highlights the tumultuous churn of NFL uniform outfitters during this era, and the crossing over of the jersey garment into the streetwear realm, where you could see jerseys being worn not only in the stadium but also in the club. 

The pieces in the collection start off colorful, with oversized logos in puff print, as a representation of the playfulness and creativity of youth. As we get older, we begin to understand the fragility of the body and spirit, and the pieces then give way to a suppressed, almost starved, look with one-color logos in slightly-off placements on the garment, accentuating the inner turmoil that one goes through before testing our pluck and bravery when faced with life's challenges. Ending on a streamlined, sophisticated palate from the pieces made from all-over embroidered PU, twill, and denim, fabrics that are commonly worn in youth, the collection comes full-circle, a symbol of our acceptance of the passing of time, and the magic that we each create during our time in this dimension.
